So I didn't get as much done on my MM plan as I wanted but I had a great day with the kids......and that's what it is all about....right!
Brittany and I started a new adventure researching all the theories of how the world came to be. Today we researched heavily the "Big Bang Theory" and who coined the term. Brittany wrote 2 papers....one on the idea of the "Big Bang Theory" and the other on "Georges Lemaître". She can't wait to get started on more tomorrow. We even went on AIG and ordered several books to help us futher our research.
David, Madalynn, Ellie and I read LOTS of books. Madalynn and I also worked on her handwriting book and some copy work....one of her FAVORITE things to do.
Forrest got off early enough to be home for dinner and requested Spaghetti and Meatballs.....very unusual for him. I did lots of "sneaky mom" things with veggies....pureed 2 zucchini and about 1/2 lb of carrots into the sauce. I added more veggie puree to the meatballs also adding in LOTS of fresh garlic and fresh basil. I served it with a side of sautee zucchini, yellow squash and mushrooms. Everyone commented on how much they LOVED the sauce. Brittany said she can't wait for lunch tomorrow so that she can eat the rest. LOL......Murrrahhhaaahhhhhhaaaaaa!
I bottled up my "Master Tonic" this evening. I didn't end up with nearly as much as I thought I was going to have so I will need to get a second batch started tomorrow. I want to also buy enough to start a 3rd bath and let that one brew for a full 28 days to see if I can tell a difference.
I created labels for the tonic. It was really fun to see my creation all bottled up with labels and all. Such a feeling of accomplishment.
I set some St. John's Wort in EVOO today to make a nice Red Oil. It needs to sit and bake in the hot sun for 3-4 weeks. I am excited to go out to shake it each day and see what it evolves into.
I did a little cleaning....ya know the typical....laundry, dishes, etc. Nothing exciting like my pantry. I need to post those photos soon. For now I am off to snuggle with Forrest and watch a movie.

Master Tonic
I have read several times about this Master Tonic/homemade antibiotic. I am ordering all the ingredients from my coop this week so I can make it. I can't wait.
A Modern Day Plague Antidote
What would happen if you and your family were exposed to a killer virus, like the recently discovered flu virus that can kill in a few hours — that no vaccine can stop?
American Indians were faced with the same terrible dilemma immediately following the first European invasions over five hundred years ago. Spiritual elders and herbal doctors were not equipped to treat the unknown diseases and millions died as a result.
The author of the formula below is Dr. Richard Schultz, a student of the late great herbalist, Dr. Christopher. Dr. Schultz ran a clinic for 20 years saving patients that had been sent home to die.
This tonic is extremely powerful, because all the ingredients are fresh. Its power should not be underestimated. This formula is a modern day plague tonic and when added to an incurable routine I have seen it cure the most chronic conditions and stubborn diseases. It stimulates maximum blood circulation, while putting the best detoxifying herbs into the blood. This formula is not just for the sniffles, it has helped to turn around the deadliest diseases. And believe me, you don't want to be without formulas like this when you or your loved ones get ill; it will save your life. Make up plenty, it can't go bad because vinegar already is, and will last almost forever.
It is advised that you make the following tincture formula and keep it on hand at all times. When problems do occur, there may not be time enough to make it.
Ingredients:
Master Tonic
1 part fresh chopped garlic cloves (anti-bacterial,anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-parasitical)
1 part fresh chopped white onions, or the hottestonions available (similar properties to garlic)
1 part fresh grated ginger root (increases circulationto the extremities)
1 part fresh grated horseradish root (increases bloodflow to the head)
1 part fresh chopped Cayenne peppers, Jalapenos,Serranos, Habeneros, African bird peppers….any combination of the hottest peppers available
Preparation:
* Fill a glass jar 3/4 of the way full with equal parts of the above fresh chopped and grated herbs. Then fill to the top with raw unfiltered, unbleached, non-distilled apple cider vinegar.
* Close and shake vigorously and then top off the vinegar if necessary. Begin this formula on the NEW moon and strain and bottle on the FULL moon, (approximately 14 days). Filter the mixture through a clean piece of cotton, bottle and label.
* Make sure that when you are making this tonic that you shake it every time you walk by it, a minimum of once per day. Remember that all the herbs and vegetables should be fresh (and organic if possible), and to use dried herbs only in an emergency.
Usage:
Strain liquids from solids through muslin cloth or strainer into a 8oz. Glass. Note: the solid ingredients retain almost the same potency as the liquid ingredients; therefore, these solids can be puréed to use with other ingredients like honey and lemon to make a salad dressing or to marinate meats of all sorts. For example mixing to taste with Peanut oil makes a great sauce to roast chicken. This formula will not spoil unless mixed with new ingredients.
Dosage: 1/2 to 1 ounce, two or more times daily (1- 2 Tbs.). Gargle and swallow. (Don't dilute with water.)
For ordinary infections, 1 dropper full taken 5-6 times a day will deal with most conditions. It can be used during pregnancies, is safe for children (use smaller doses and as a food is completely non-toxic. Make up plenty as it does not need refrigeration and lasts indefinitely without any special storage conditions.
Note: Store your tincture in a dark place as light will deteriorate it. You can put the jar in a paper bag for the brewing and shaking process. Tinctures last indefinitely, while herbs can lose potency within a year. Also, tinctures enter your system in seconds, as compared with dry herbs in capsules which have to be digested first.
Ingredient properties:
-Garlic cloves (anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-parasitical)
-White Onion, or hottest onions available (similar properties to garlic)
-Ginger Root (increases circulation to the extremities)
-Horseradish Root (increases blood flow to the head)
-Cayenne Peppers, or the hottest peppers available, i.e. habanero, African Bird, -or Scotch Bonnets, etc. (a great blood stimulant).
Pro-biotic: antiviral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-parasitical.

Ease Those Bug Bites with Easy Herbs
A timely post for all those NASTY bugs that LOVE to bite me and my kids!
Ease Those Bug Bites with Easy Herbs
c. 2000, Susun S Weed
Summertime means insect bites and stings. Ouch! Take a leaf from Susun S. Weed's storehouse of natural remedies: Soothe, heal, and prevent bites with safe herbal remedies that grow right where you live, north or south, east or west, city or country. The best natural remedies for insect bites are right underfoot.
Plantain, also called ribwort, pig's ear, and the band-aid plant, is a common weed of lawns, driveways, parks, and playgrounds. Identify it by the five parallel veins running the length of each leaf. (Most leaves have a central vein with smaller ones branching out from it.) You may find broad leaf plantain (Plantago majus), with wide leaves and a tall seed head, or narrow leaf plantain (Plantago lanceolata), with long thin leaves and a small flower head that looks like a flying saucer. Many Plantago species have seeds and leaves that can be used as food or medicine. A South American variety (Plantago psyllium) is used to make Metamucil.(TM)
How to use plantain? Make a fresh leaf poultice. Pick a leaf, chew it well and put it on the bite. "Like magic" the pain, heat, and swelling -- even allergic reactions -- disappear, fast! (Yes, you can dry plantain leaves and carry them in your first aid kit. Chew like you would fresh leaves.)
Poultices ease pain, reduce swelling, and help heal. No wonder they're the number one natural choice for treating insect bites, bee and wasp stings.
Mud is the oldest and simplest poultice. Powdered white clay, which should be mixed with a little water or herb tea, can be applied directly to the sting as soon as possible. Clay can be kept on hand at all times and is less likely to contain fungal spores than the real thing. Finely ground grains such as rice or oatmeal, or bland starchy substances like mallow root, grated potato, or arrowroot powder also used as soothing poultices to ease itching and pain from insect bites.
Fresh-herb poultices are a little more complicated, but not by much. Just find a healing leaf, pluck it, chew it, and apply it directly to the sting/bite. If you wish, use a large leaf or an adhesive bandage to hold the poultice in place. Plantain, comfrey (Symphytum uplandica x), yellow dock (Rumex species), wild geranium (Geranium maculatum), wild mallow (Malva neglecta), chickweed (Stellaria media),and yarrow are only a few of the possiblities.
In the woods, you can take a leaf from a tree, chew it and apply that to the bite. Any tree will do in an emergency, but if you have a choice, the best leaves are those from witch hazel, willow, oak, or maple. Play it safe: Learn to recognize witch hazel (Hamamelis virginia) and willow (Salix species) leaves before you chew on them. Maple (Acer) or oak (Quercus) leaves are easier to recognize and safer to chew -- unless you live where poison oak grows. If uncertain, avoid all shrubs and any trees with slick or shiny leaves. If the leaf you are chewing tastes extremely bitter or burns your mouth, spit it out at once.
To repel ticks, mosquitoes, and black flies, try a diluted tincture of yarrow (Alchellia millefolium) flowers directly on all exposed skin. A recent US Army study showed yarrow tincture to be more effective than DEET as an insect repellent.
If you've spent the day in an area where lyme disease is common, take a shower right away and scrub yourself with a bodybrush. Have a friend check you out for ticks. Also, it takes the tick some time to make up its mind where to bite, so most are unattached and will wash off.
"If the worst happens and I do get a bite, I help my immune system by taking a daily dose of 2-6 dropperfuls of Echinacea tincture. I avoid Goldenseal as I believe it could have adverse effects. If I have symptoms, I use a dropperful of St. Joan's wort (Hypericum) tincture three times a day to help inactivate the lyme's organism."
